Bag on valve aerosol filling machine

Resolve bag-on-valve versus conventional aerosol filling before you treat manufacturer quotations as the same object. On a bag-on-valve aerosol filling machine, liquid stays in the bag and the propellant stays outside it. Station order, pressure checks and leak inspection therefore differ from a conventional fill-crimp-gas path. This dossier is an input checklist, not an engineering sign-off and not a compliance certificate for the finished pack.

Input checklist

Work through this decision
  1. Input checklist: Must have

Name the bag, valve and can combination; whether the propellant is compressed or liquefied; the product that sits in the bag; and how pressure is checked after filling. Attach the same drawings to every RFQ. If the project still includes conventional aerosols, split the quotation so BOV stations are not hidden inside a conventional line price.

  2. Tradeoff

Operations that change when moving from conventional aerosols to bag-on-valve typically include product path (bag fill versus can fill), propellant introduction, and the leak/pressure checks that follow. A cheaper conventional cell that “can be adapted later” is a different purchase from a BOV-capable sequence priced now. Do not convert that difference into a percentage saving claim; keep it as a scope split.

  3. Next question

How will crimp and leak inspection be documented for each format? Ask for the method, the sample size and whether BOV packs share the same leak tester as conventional cans. FAT/SAT should list both packs if both will run.

Conventional aerosol versus bag-on-valve quotation objects
Topic Conventional aerosol Bag-on-valve RFQ action
Product location Product and propellant share the can Product in bag; gas outside the bag Do not reuse a conventional P&ID as the BOV sequence
Stations Dose, place, crimp, gas Bag fill path plus a distinct gas path Request the full station list in writing
Tooling Crimp heads for can-neck/valve drawings May need BOV-specific crimp and bag handling Attach both drawing sets if both packs run
Inspection Crimp dimensions and leak rate Pressure check plus leak on the BOV pack Name method and records per format
Utilities Three-phase, compressed air as stated Propellant circuit pressure may differ State working pressure on the RFQ
